2nd IORA Renewable Energy Experts’ Meeting, 3 October 2018

Renewable Energy Experts from IORA Member Countries and Dialogue Partners congregated to:

  • Discuss avenues of collaboration on existing technologies – solar, wind, hydel, geothermal, etc.
  • Deliberate upon future possibilities – offshore wind farms, rooftop solar, floating solar, wind-solar hybrid farms, tidal energy, etc.
  • Identify hurdles in cooperation and coordination among concerned agencies and suggest feasible options to address these challenges, covering areas such as regulatory policies, funding constraints and avenues and sharing of technology.
  • Explore partnerships between IORA and existing renewable energy institutions.
  • Identify and deliberate upon feasible mechanisms for capacity building through training opportunities and sharing of best practices among IORA countries in this sector.

This event was jointly organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of the Government of India, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Indian Ocean Rim Association IORA. It coincided with the First Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the 2nd Global RE-INVEST, Renewable Energy Investors’ Meet & Expo.
