The Haryana government has adopted a slew of measures to bring into mainstream the use of new and renewable energy sources and to promote energy conservation activities in the state. While the Department of Renewable Energy, Haryana, was established in May 1995 to give the sunrise sector a facelift, the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) was set up as the state nodal agency to implement various Centre and State sponsored schemes and projects in the area of renewable energy and energy conservation.

Haryana offers an attractive package of incentives with an investment friendly climate with peaceful and safe environment. The State Government announced its Solar Power Policy 2016 and Haryana Bio Energy Policy 2018 to give an impetus to the energy sector. So far, renewable energy projects of about 312 MW have been set up in the State and projects of about 240 MW are under execution. What’s noteworthy is the fact that Haryana is the first state to make Solar Rooftop Power Plant mandatory for various categories of Buildings. This apart, the State Government has also made energy audit, ECBC and installation of LED lights mandatory for various categories of buildings.
